Oh My!!! I saw the photo and thought it was Black Hawk, Colorado! It looks just like a gold mine in Black Hawk (the way it looked back in the 80s). Beautiful Photo.
Before I even saw that this was in Switzerland, I knew immediately that it was from just the photo….and I’ve never been to Switzerland! Great building of wood.
Amazing buildings and a lovely photo, but I’m not sure how I’d feel about being in the ones poised on top of others on those discs on top of pillars. You’d have to remember where you were when you thought about going out of the front door.
I used to live in a house made of wooden shingles and boy do I remember the smell of that house. Much like I would imagine this house smells. Love the photo and actually the house too.
Wow – do you know what time period this is from? It looks like a door up there, complete with a doorstep, with no way to get up there. Crazy hermits or weird fantasy land creatures could live in there. Very cool photo.
I’m not sure how old it was but it’s been there for quite a while! I think there was a ladder to reach the top door, and it does look as though fairy tale creatures would live there… :)
Wonderful wood building.
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
I agree – it was truly unique!

Thank you, and that’s really interesting it reminds you of Colorado!

That’s quite impressive you knew it was from Switzerland. It was very well constructed and (I think) still being used!

It’s a long way down! I didn’t see a ladder but there must be one somewhere… :)
Love the beautiful wood buildings in Europe.
I do too. They are really beautiful!

I like that scent very much! And thank you, I’m glad you liked the picture :)
That’s gorgeous. Never been to Switzerland and now I want to more than ever
I enjoyed visiting Switzerland very much and I hope you’ll have the opportunity to go there!
Somewhat precarious looking!
It does look as though it may have shifted a little! I think it’s still fine though… :)
Very different looking houses. :)
I thought so too – I think that’s why I liked them so much!
Fabulous picture of a wood building!!
Thanks Darlene – I thought it was very photogenic!
no-one does timber as well as the swiss .. modern timber engineering there is also remarkable… thanks meg, great shot!!
I thought the construction was quite impressive! And you’re welcome, I’m glad you liked the picture :)
These are quite amazing, as in “maze!”
You made a good observation – there were lots of old wooden buildings that were close together!
Very cool Meg!
Thanks Penny, I appreciate it!
I guess in a place like that, you have to build UP. No urban sprawl going on there!
You’re right! And the buildings seemed very compact and efficient… :)
Gorgeous entry!!
Thank you, I’m glad you liked it!
Lovely shot Meg. Love the weather beaten textures.
Thanks Madhu – I really liked that look too!
So very ideal for this week’s theme!! Simply marvelous!
Thank you – it was a fun challenge and I really enjoyed it!
So unexpected! I would imagine this building comes with quite a story! :-)
That’s what I thought too – it was an impressive building with a lot of character!
Wow, how stunning! These wood buildings definitely aren’t typical of the American tree house. AHA! Great photo! Thanks for sharing.
I’m glad you liked the picture – thank you!

Wow how unusual! I learn more interesting travel things from your pics than I do from PBS travel programs! :)
I can’t thank you enough for saying that! I really enjoy looking for unusual scenes… :)
Lovely photo of the small wooden building and the dramatic mountains in the back!
Thank you – I thought that the building and the mountains were very impressive!
The way you photographed this makes it look like the home was built into the mountains. It’s so “Heidi” .
It was such a charming scene and I thought of “Heidi” too – thank you Linda!
Awesome photo. Although in Finland we have huge amount of wooden building, this one is fantastic beautiful.
Thank you so much – I really admired the beautiful wooden buildings!
I wonder what magical creatures live here? I love this photo.
I’d like to know the answer to that question too! And thank you :)
Do people live in there?
I think it was used for storage, but you never know… :)
Wow, very cool, weathered look!
However, they do look a bit unstable!
They were really interesting but I also thought they looked a little unsteady!
