It would take some getting used to, to have the streets made of water. It could be disastrous to run out of the house and forget that it wasn’t terra firma.
I found that when I went in the opposite direction from the crowds it didn’t take long to find quiet scenes like this. I think that’s a big reason why I like Venice so much!
Such an interesting picture-maybe the gondola is full of things because it belongs to the local delivery guy who just went up to deliver a basket of cheese and crusty bread with chilled wine and a bouquet of flowers and he’s coming right back down. All the comments sparked my imagination.Anyway you captured a quaint little setting that we don’t ever get to see here. So, thanks for the treat.
You’re right about Venice being crowded! But people seem to stay in the main areas, and I went a few blocks in the other direction to find scenes like this. It becomes a new adventure… :)
The wonderful thing is, even if that signor were all on his own in his apartment he would never have to feel lonely. That’s what I love about Italy! Gorgeous post Meg! Jx

That’s a good point – if I lived there I’d keep life preservers and rafts by every door just in case!

If that was my everyday view out the window, I wouldn’t get anything done. Nice photo.

I wonder if you ever get used to that view. That’s hard to imagine though… :)

ou know this photo looks so inviting but it got me to wondering. Is the canal polluted? You never see anyone swimming.

I think people aren’t supposed to go in the water. The canals are for gondolas and other boats!
