While I was in North Carolina I wanted to find out more about the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. It was an easy drive from North Carolina and the people at the local information center were very helpful. They pointed out on a map where there were good places to see the mountains. On their recommendation I drove to the Foothills Parkway where there were observation points along the road to park the car and admire the view. Each time I stopped at one of these areas I took many pictures of the mountains. Here are some of them.
The leaves on the trees were still green with some starting to change colors. The sun was bright but then it would get hazy.
Later it was time to go back to the highway…
I’d like to go back for another visit!

Lovely scenic views….nice that there were way points to get out and take photos. I’ve seen such beautiful scenery on this trip to Germany and Austria but there aren’t any places to stop.

I’m so glad I found out about the Foothills Parkway because there wasn’t anywhere to stop on the main highway… It’s nice to have these photos as souvenirs!
