The View from St. Peter’s Basilica

One of the things I wanted to do when I was in Rome was to see the city from the top of St. Peter’s Basilica.  I decided to take the elevator, but there was still a long and challenging walk up many steps to the top.  When I reached my destination there were impressive panoramic views.  Since I was in no hurry to leave after the effort it took to get there I decided to have a good look around.

    • I really like your description! It was quite early when I got to St. Peter’s and there wasn’t any wait to get in. The view from the top was wonderful and I’m very happy to share these pictures!

  1. I love peering down on those rooftop gardens – they seem so peaceful. The book Basilica is supposed to be really good. I haven’t read it yet but it’s on my list.

  2. Wow, worth the effort to the top. I love it if I can get to the top of somewhere/something for a panoramic view, it puts a whole new perspective on the city that you’re visiting.
