When I was growing up my family would go to the beach during the summer. Many times we would drive to Maine and spend the day swimming, collecting seashells and enjoying the beautiful weather. My recollection is that the water never got very warm, even in August. I’ve made this postcard as a nostalgic reminder of those sunny days along the shore.
What lovely memories. I also remember being taken to the beach as a child, collecting shells and swimming in freezing cold water – no doubt very good for us!
I still have some of the seashells – and I’ll always remember that cold water!
So wonderful to see and experience the places we were in our youth and recall the memories. Maine, so I’ve been told, is beautiful.
Maine is very beautiful and ideal to visit in the summer!
Beautiful memories!and the place is wonderful! :)
They are lovely memories… :)
Lovely pics for your memories postcard, Meg. The water was always cold in England, when we went on our summer hols. :)
Thanks – I must not have minded the cold water because I always went in to swim!
What a coincidence — just this morning I was picking up seashells on my own beach. When we visited Maine it reminded me a lot of home. :)
Picking up seashells is a delightful pastime! That is one of my nicest memories of Maine… :)

Maine is one of my primary US travel-wish destinations, and now I want to go even more! I love those charming New England towns.
Maine is a marvelous destination and you’ll really like it! It’s lovely in the summer… :)

Lovely photos of Maine, Meg. they remind me of my homeland, here in North Wales. Blessings, dear friend.
Thank you so much! They are both very beautiful places…
Lovely childhood memories to have of the sea even if the water wasn’t warm.
It was so nice to remember our trips to the beach, and I don’t think I noticed the chill once I started swimming!
My husband summered in Maine growing up and he agrees, the water was NEVER warm!
It’s true! When we would go to the beach late in the summer I always thought the water would be warmer but it wasn’t… :)
I’m sure these photos trigger great memories for you.
They really do and it’s wonderful to look back… :)
My most nostalgic memories of childhood center around the beach, too. My grandparents rented beach houses and I spent a lot of time there every summer. I love your photos! Beautiful blue! :-)
Thank you Debra! Going to the beach was great fun and it sounds like you have some lovely memories too :)
Wonderful. we would go to the beach along the Pacific. Fond, fond memories.
I think there is something so special about the beach… :)
What great memories Meg – with gorgeous photos! Since I grew up in Ohio our closest body of water was Lake Erie and a trip there was special. Plus we got to go to the Cedar Point Amusement Park and ride the Wild Mouse – truly memorable! Thanks for reminding me of this great memory. All the best, Terri
Thank you Terri! They sound like marvelous memories – going to the amusement park was always so much fun. It’s nice to remember… :)
No. it doesn’t look very warm even in summer, Meg, but beautiful, nevertheless. :)
The water really does look chilly… It’s lovely to look at though!

So wonderful photos. Water is close to my heart and that’s why I love sea and lakes.
Thank you – I think it’s delightful to be near the water too!
Beautiful! You cannot go wrong with the sea. I still have cannot believe my good fortune to live only minutes away.
That must be marvelous to live near the sea – it is very nice to be able to drive there for the day too!
It is. I never dreamed I could be so fortunate. It was wonderful there today!
