On a visit to London last fall I saw many ways that words and phrases presented themselves. There were signs, souvenir shirts and even one of my favorite landmarks that uses numbers instead of letters. When I look at these pictures now some of them give the appearance that the weather was gloomy. It was cloudy part of the time but it didn’t rain. That made it so much easier to take these pictures!
Here it was cloudy but you could also see some blue sky.
For more pictures look here.
It’s probably to catch a lot of sunny weather in London. I like overcast skies though.
I like the clouds too – they make everything look so much more interesting!
And they make your pictures really stand out. That yellow sign really pops and Big Ben looks positively moody.
Thank you Renee! The clouds are really noticeable but Big Ben still looks impressive… :)
These are great captures though weather was gloomy.
Thanks Amy! I think that the cloudiness added a little drama… :)
Great examples :)
Thank you – this was a fun challenge!
It was wasn’t it? I found I had too many to pick from and I didn’t know if I would have any.
You had some great pictures and I can tell you’ve done a lot of traveling to have taken them!
Well we have been able to travel more since living in Shanghai. The world suddenly got smaller! I figure we should take advantage of seeing what we can while we can.
When I was younger I did some travelling in Europe, but all those photos are on film and in storage :( I love to travel and once the travel bug struck… look out. Only lack of time and funds hold us back!
It’s really wonderful that you have had all these opportunities to travel!
Yes I am loving it :) Much easier and cheaper to do from here too.
Great pictures with good commentary. I have TLC business upcoming in a couple of weeks in London so, for me, good timing. Thanks for sharing.
Brad
Thanks Brad and I hope that you have a wonderful trip to London!
Clouds make a sky look very interesting although I do yearn for some blue sky when travelling. I love that the letters and appearance of the signs show the variety of London, the old and the new.
I definitely prefer sunshine when I travel too! Those signs were so unique and I really liked them… :)
A wonderful collection!
Thank you Lorna – they are some of my souvenir pictures of London!

Where would we be without signs, Meg? Lost, I guess! :) Happy days :)
I really like signs and it’s so much fun to see where I’ve been! Thanks Jo… :)
Great images to match ‘letters’. London is one of my favourite cities even when it’s overcast. ;)
Thanks and I really think that London is charming in any kind of weather!
What fun. I love London, too, but haven’t been there for some time.

It’s so interesting to see the signs and displays in London – I’m happy to have taken these souvenir pictures!
I love the shot with the street sign and the London Eye…I think I’ll head over to Westminster Abbey!
Thanks Elisa! You made a good choice – that’s where I went too… :)
Sometimes you can get great photos on an overcast day even though as tourists we wait bright sunshine.
That’s true Karen – it isn’t possible to always have good weather but the experiences while traveling make it all worthwhile!
We are like minded about that…the weather cannot diminish the wonderful experiences of travel.
A cloudy day in London, strolling around with a camera…what could be better? Love the images, words and all.
Thank you Teresa – it is truly wonderful to be in London and look around for some interesting details to photograph as souvenirs!
Love seeing great pics of my home town like this :)
I’m so glad that you like them – London had so many great places to photograph!
