I decided to take a ferry on Lake Como to get a different view of the area. After boarding I found a seat under a canopy so I could be in the shade. My plan was to take lots of pictures while enjoying the view. There were several stops along the way, but I stayed on the ferry and ended up back in Como.
Although it was crowded the ferry was quiet except for the sound of the motor. The scenery kept changing and I could see both sides of the lake. When the ferry made stops along the way people got off and new people came on board. Most everyone was taking pictures in my section, especially when there was an outstanding view. It was an ideal introduction to Lake Como.
A boat cruise gives you a different perspective. I love doing it too. Lake Como is in my bucket list.
I really enjoyed the view from the ferry! That’s a great idea to add Lake Como to your list… :)
That would be fun to visit there.
It was so much fun – perfect weather and spectacular scenery!
Looks so beautiful. I am thinking how nice it would be to live here all the time
I think it would be amazing to live there – it’s such an impressive and beautiful place!
What a wonderful Cruise You made and showed to us so beautiful photos. Thank You.
Thanks – it was really interesting to see everything from the water instead of the land!
I love the perspective of the scenery and homes from the boat. I don’t usually like crowded areas, but this area has an open feel to it even though the homes are near each other – I get the image of friendly neighbors enjoying their location. The idea of taking an open, breezy ferry to your destination (as the locals appeared to do) instead of a claustrophobic subway is glorious!! :D
You make a good observation about how open it was, and it was a wonderful experience to see local people using the ferry in addition to all the visitors!
Beautiful scenery from the ferry, Mag! Love these photos. We did on our first trip to Lake Como.
Thanks Amy – being on the ferry was such a great way to get an overview of the area!
beautiful pictures, Meg! you captured the charm of Lake Como. :)
Thank you Lola! I thought that Lake Como was simply delightful… :)
Most lovely. I have never been on Lake Como or even on the shore! Perhaps next visit! Thanks for letting me join you on the ride, it looks so wonderful!
It is both charming and welcoming and I think that you’d really like it. I’m happy that you came along on the ferry ride!
Brings back beautiful memories, Meg! It’s a lovely part of the world. :) Great photos!
Thanks Jo – I think this is a marvelous place and I’d like to go back again!
How beautiful! You really got some great shots. We visited Stresa a few years ago (in the fall, so much colder and less crowds!), and really enjoyed that area. It’s a “go back” for us, so we should put Como on the list. Thanks for an Italy visit for me today…LOL!
I was in Stresa on this trip and it’s a pretty place! I think you’ll be happy when you see Lake Como – it’s a good place to add to your list… :)
Such beautiful scenery, Meg. Love your photos. :)
Thank you – it was a wonderful and unforgettable day!
What a wonderful trip!! I love Como and the lake. Beautiful pictures Meg. Did you enjoy your travel in Italy? Have you been to the EXPO? Let’s know how many places you’ve seen. Ciaoo Be a
Hi Bea, I enjoyed traveling in Italy so much! I saw information about the Expo at the airport but I wasn’t able to go. I was also in Parma, Genova, Portofino, and lots of other places. Everywhere I went was wonderful!
You really saw a lot of beautiful towns. What’s about Milan? Didd you havetthe opportunity to follow my suggestions? Ciao Bea
I went to Milan on the train from the airport so I walked to the Sforza Castle, the Duomo and la Scala. Your suggestions were wonderful and I’ll definitely see the places you described the next time I’m there!
I love Lake Como and the ferry is a great way to get around in the area.
Lake Como is so charming and the ferry was such a convenient way to see the area and relax at the same time!
Great photos and the ferry on Como is as you mention, relaxing. Totally affordable too!
Thanks Diana! The ferry was very reasonable and now the ticket is one of my souvenirs from Lake Como… :)
Lake Como so lovely and travelling by ferry is a great way to see it.
I agree – the ferry provided a wonderful panorama of the whole area and I was able to take lots of pictures too!
Beautiful! This may be the first thing I’ve read about Lake Como that doesn’t mention George Clooney, lol.
I was so focused on the scenery I couldn’t think about anything else!!
Lovely photos Megan. It isn’t far, but I haven’t made it to Italy yet. There have been several visits to Spain, and I’ve also made it to Belgium, Holland and Luxembourg but I still enjoy focusing on France…
Thanks Lea! I’m sure you’ll get to Italy sometime but France is a wonderful place to be… :)
Thank you Meg and yes, we shall see… :)
I’m always intrigued by houses clustered on the hillsides.
I am too and there were lots of beautiful houses on many different levels!
It is such a scenic place. Did you walk up to the church on the hill? It is not far from the place where IIl Duce was caught.
I didn’t see that when I was there but I’m hoping to go back again in the future!
Just walk up the hill towards the church. There is a small marker along the roadside. Quite insignificant but important for Italian history books
We had 3 days in Lake Como a few years back Meg and it is high on the wishlist of places to go back to! We stayed in Como City very close to the ferry quay and did a couple of boat trips- one a shorter introduction to the lake and the other a longer one up to Bellagio and Menaggio. Would have loved to go further up the lake to Gravedona and Colico but alas we didn’t have time. I loved the way the scenery became more alpine as you sailed further up the lake towards the Alps – it was breathtakingly beautiful! I’ve loved looking at your photos and reminiscing! Looks like you had a wonderful trip :)
Thanks – it sounds like your time at Lake Como was amazing! It’s so beautiful and you got to see quite a bit of the area. I’d like to go back sometime… :)
