Over the past three years I’ve written so much about gelato that I had to check my previous posts to make sure I was using an original title! Gelato is a treat I look forward to when I go to Italy and I found a new flavor in Parma called Parmigianino that was light and fluffy. When I get gelato I usually choose two flavors so I can sample something different as well as picking one of my favorites. It is fun to walk and enjoy the scenery with a refreshing gelato. I’m not the only one who does that either – I saw lots of people walking with their gelato cones and cups!
I decided to continue with this theme so here are some of the signs I saw as well as actual gelato. These pictures make me want to go back to Italy as soon as possible.
I found myself swallowing as I read this, wishing I had a gelato in my hand right now!

It was so pleasant to walk around – or even find a place to sit – with some gelato. It became part of the experience!

I comfort myself by remembering how wonderful it was when I was able to have it. We happen to have an excellent gelato place near us, and we frequented it quite a bit in previous years, so at least I had a good amount of time to enjoy all the different flavors (cherry amaretto was my favorite, with wildberry, pineapple-coconut, and dark chocolate all close seconds!). Although that doesn’t always help when the cravings hit on a hot summer day… ;)

It must be difficult, especially now that it’s summer. It sounds like you have good memories though – I hope they help!

I am so with you on this one. I was so missing Italy the other day……..I bought a gelato and sat on the bed with my eyes closed pretending I was tucked away in a small cafe near the Trevi Fountain in Rome……just near enough that I could hear the water and the crowds…..

That is a wonderful way to be transported back to Italy! I’d like to step into one of these pictures and be in Italy long enough to see the ocean or the mountains… :)

Love that display case full of gelato. Almost too pretty to eat.

I think the displays are pretty too, especially when there are flowers arranged on the fresh gelato!
