I just got back from my trip to Spain and France! I thought I would begin by showing some of the beautiful tiles from Park Güell in Barcelona. It was a challenge getting there because it involved a walk up a steep hill that took me a while to complete. The park was delightful and quite spacious so it didn’t seem too crowded. There were also plenty of benches so it was possible to find a place to sit and enjoy the surroundings. The tiles were both original and colorful and the park was a cheerful place on a sunny afternoon.
part of the view!
always in bloom
There were lots of examples of patterns in Lisbon, Portugal. First I noticed this building with colorful tiles, and as I was walking I saw a pattern in the sidewalk. Although different they were both very interesting.
I also noticed the pattern on a rooftop (and the brick wall) when I was looking out on the city from St. George’s Castle.
When I was in Rome I climbed the steps of St. Peter’s Basilica to the top for a view of the city. Along the way I stopped and saw these tiles. After taking a picture of one of the scenes I thought it would be interesting to focus on one of the corners to show the tiles in detail.
